What materials are used in Higonokami knives?
Like the ancient original Nagao Kanekoma, our Higonokami knives are typically made with high-carbon steels such as SK steel, Blue Paper steel (Aogami), and White Paper steel (Shirogami) for the blade. The handle is usually crafted from brass or iron.

What makes a Higonokami knife different from other pocket knives?
The Higonokami knife stands out due to its friction folder mechanism, which does not have a locking system. Its design is influenced by traditional Japanese sword-making techniques, making it both reliable and practical. We kept the traditional design (riveted locking mechanism) as well as we designed a modernized version with an adjustable / removable bolted nut for more ease of use, maintenance and durability.
Below is a modernized bolted version also available on Higonokami.shop:

Are our Higonokami knives durable?
Yes, Higonokami knives are known for their durability, our products are no exeption. The high-carbon steel blades offer excellent edge retention and sharpness, while the metal handles provide a sturdy and comfortable grip.
